Welcome to Nelson Elementary School

Opened in 2007, Nelson Elementary is named after L.A. Nelson Jr., a Denton attorney who served on the city council and as mayor. Nelson was instrumental in the construction of a new City Hall, the creation of Lake Ray Roberts and the upgrading of streets in Southeast Denton. In addition, Nelson was president of the Denton Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Flow Memorial Hospital board of managers. 

Nelson Elementary is located in south Denton and serves students in the Guyer High School attendance zone. The school’s mascot is the Lions, and its colors are crimson, navy and khaki.
